13th Intermational Prix Galien & 45th Prix Galien France

Monaco, December 4th, 2014

Monaco has welcomed the 45th ceremony of Prix Galien France and the 13th ceremony of the International Prix Galien under the High Patronage of S.A.S., Prince Albert II and of the President of the French Republic Mr. François HOLLANDE. Under the presidency of S.E. Mr. Michel ROGER, State Minister, Principal of Monaco, Mr. Stéphane VALERI, Councilor Government for Social Affairs and Healthcare and S.E. Mr. Hadelin de la TOUR du PIN, Ambassador of France.

During the Prix Galien France ceremony, the Laureates bestowed with the award were: Dr Catherine LLORENS-CORTES, Collège de France-Inserm, for her works in cardiology, propanolol, HEMANGIOL (PIERRE FABRE DERMATOLOGIE- Université de Bordeaux Segalen-CHU de Bordeaux), canakitumab, ILARIS (NOVARTIS), acide cholique, ORPHACOL (Laboratoire CTRS – Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris).

In the 13th Prix Galien International, two new awarding categories were established: Best research team and Best medical devise. The Laureates were:

Best research team: Pr Thomas BAUMERT, unité Inserm URM 1110, université de Strasbourg for his works of modeling antiviral therapy for hepatitis C.
Best medical device: Word Hearing Center, National Network of Teleaudiology
Best medicine for rare disease: Ivacaftor KALYDECO (VERTEX PHARMACEUTICALS)
Best pharmaceutical product: Boceprevir, VICTRELIS (MSD) and telaprevir, INCIVO (JANSSEN).

The international jury members wanted to highly commend two more molecules: vémurafenib, ZELBORAF, (ROCHE GENENTECH) and meningococcal disease vaccine, BEXSERO (NOVARTIS VACCINES).
