Lyon hosted the 43rd pharmaceutical Awards Prix Galien France and 12th International Prix Galien. The awarding ceremony was attended by over 300 people. The event was under the auspices of the President of France, François Hollande and the support Mr. Ban Ki MOON, UN Secretary General, Maire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science and Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel. The ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Senator-Mayor of Greater Lyon Mr. Gerard Collomb.
The winners of Prix Galien France: Prof. Michel Lazdunski, Prof. Salima HACEIN-BEY Abina, GENETHON, boceprevir (VICTRELIS®, MSD) and telaprevir (INCIVO®, JANSSEN).
The winners of International Prix Galien: ustekinumab (STELARA®, JANSSEN)
Prof. Ogobara DOUMBO, also received an honorary medal of the city of Lyon for his work on malaria.
